Yesterday, Leadership Corps had a messy time trying to visit the Capitol. Half of the Leadership Corps groups were supposed to start off with a tour of the Capitol while the other half went to McDonald’s for dinner and then reverse destinations. Due to the combination of weather and traffic, it was impossible to stay on schedule.
Leadership Corps Groups 1 and 2 were on the same bus and had a tour at the Capitol at 4:30 p.m. They left the hotel at approximately 4:10 p.m. and were expected to arrive on time for the tour by 4:30 p.m. However, that was not the case. With the storm and rush-hour, not to mention everyone sitting three to a seat, they had to endure a 90 minute stop-and-go trip. They missed their tour and went straight to McDonald’s. Unfortunately, one of the delegates threw up on the bus.
The eighth graders of Leadership Corps were unable to tour the Capitol and will have to wait until next year. Ms. Wrona, a first year adviser from the Fridley delegation, said with a smile on her face, ” I had a nice, long ride with 8th graders. It was a test of patience.”
